Departmental Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education:

The Graphic Design/Social Media Marketing student will assist the UNC Charlotte Center for Wellness Promotion (CWP) staff in creating marketing materials relevant to CWP, Student Health Center, and Counseling Center programs, events and services. He/she will manage and maintain all relevant social media sites for each department and implement strategies to increase site traffic and followers. In addition to technical design skills, the ideal candidate is organized, creative and team oriented. S/he can work independently given training and guidance. The candidate should be extremely detail oriented and skilled in time management. Additionally, s/he should have exemplary communication skills (written and verbal). The CWP will make every effort to provide a flexible work opportunity to accommodate the intern’s academic scheduled, however, the intern will be expected to create and maintain a consistent weekly work schedule and complete all hours onsite at the CWP. Remote hours may be approved only under special circumstances and will be at the full discretion of the supervising staff member.

Duties and Responsibilities

- Designing graphics for various communication contexts (print, web, email and social media contexts with design elements to include logos, graphics, images, and multimedia material)
- Designing promotional and marketing materials as needed
- Creating office templates for repeat project requests
- Creating and implementing a user-friendly system for project requests
- Maintaining an organized electronic storage system for all project files
- The graphic design/social media intern will also contribute to an ongoing goal of refining student-focused materials related to college health & wellness. Having a student fully engaged with creative projects infuses an ongoing student lens that the professional staff greatly values.
