The Center for Wellness Promotion educates, supports, and empowers UNC Charlotte students to achieve balance among multiple dimensions of wellness through health education, wellness promotion initiatives, and individual consultations.

Primary Purpose of Position

Housed within the Center for Wellness Promotion, the Recovery Support Specialist will help assist with the coordination of recovery support services offered through the Collegiate Recovery Community for student members who are in recovery from addiction. This position will also be a point person for consultation, screening, and referral for students with known or suspected issues with alcohol and other drugs.

Summary of Position Responsibilities

The Recovery Support Specialist will provide consultation, screening, coaching, and referral to students with known or suspected substance use disorders, as well as assist with provision and coordination of recovery support services of the Collegiate Recovery Community for students in recovery from substance use disorders.

Minimum Education/Experience

Master’s degree or Bachelor’s Degree with equivalent experience. Most relevant fields of study include, but may not limited to, public health, health promotion or health education, counseling, or social work

Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Professional experience working in the field of substance use addiction and recovery.

Professional experience working in a higher education setting.

Necessary Certifications/Licenses

Current certification in NC as Certified Substance Abuse Counselor (CSAC). Comparable certification from other state with reciprocity in NC may qualify.

Preferred Certifications/Licenses

Current licensure in NC as Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist (LCAS)
