8:00 am – 5:00 pm, Monday – Friday. Flexible hours consistent with student class schedule. Evening and weekend hours are required as dictated by the performance events calendar.

Pay Rate $7.25 - $11.00/hour
Minimum Experience/Education

Must be a currently enrolled UNC Charlotte student.

Departmental Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education:

Prefer that student has completed Theatre Practicum course or has stage lighting training.

Duties and Responsibilities

The lab is responsible for the hanging, focusing and running of lights for events at Robinson Hall and Rowe Arts.

Employee works on a show to show basis, assisting with the hang, focus and strike of designated productions and events on Robinson Hall and Rowe Arts. Employee should be familiar with basic lighting protocols and practices. Employee should be able to focus lights from a catwalk and from a genie lift. The Assist. Electrician will receive instructions from the E2 and Master Electrician. Employees should be able to run sub masters on a lighting console for basic level lighting events. All assistant electricians will report to the Master Electrician for scheduling and regular performance evaluations. This position will work intermittent hours throughout the semester based on production needs.

Other Work/Responsibilities

If student is advanced, employee works as the designated assistant to the Master Electrician. The E2 will assist with the preparation and execution of all lighting needs for Robinson Hall. The E2 should be familiar with intermediate lighting protocols and practices. The E2 should be capable of the basic programming of all lighting consoles in Robinson Hall and Rowe Arts. The E2 will also be expected to work as a mentor to their fellow students in Practicum classes. The E2 should be able to run an ETC Ion, Element or Obsession II for intermediate or advanced level lighting events. The E2 will report to the Master Electrician for scheduling and regular performance evaluations. This position will work regular weekly hours throughout the semester.
