Essential Duties and Responsibilities | The University of North Carolina at Charlotte invites applications for a tenure-track appointment as Assistant Professor of Trombone, to begin on August 15, 2018. The primary responsibility is to teach trombone to undergraduate music majors. Candidates who can make additional pedagogical contributions to one or more of our degree concentrations in composition, jazz studies, liberal arts, music education, and performance are particularly encouraged to apply. Faculty members are also expected to actively participate in student recruitment and provide service to the campus, community, and profession. |
Minimum Experience/Education | UNC Charlotte gives primary consideration to the earned doctorate or terminal degree in the teaching discipline or a related discipline. |
Preferred Education, Skills and Experience | Candidates must hold an appropriate doctoral degree (ABD will be considered). Previous success in recruiting and teaching trombone at the collegiate level is preferred. Candidates should demonstrate a strong commitment to developing a studio of undergraduates, including a diverse population of first-generation students, within the context of an urban research university. Candidates should have a record of performance and/or scholarship that effectively illustrates promise for significant professional contributions. Applicants whose work incorporates a commitment to diversity in higher education are particularly encouraged to apply. |
