The Department of Kinesiology (http://kinesiology.uncc.edu) is a dynamic unit with an interdisciplinary focus. It is one of four academic units within the College of Health and Human Services. Our programs include: B.S. in Exercise Science (CAAHEP-accredited); M.S. in Kinesiology consisting of an Applied Physiology and Neuromechanics Concentration (research focus) and a CAAHEP-accredited clinical exercise physiology concentration; B.S. in Athletic Training (CAATE-accredited); B.S. in Respiratory Therapy (pending CoARC accreditation); B.S. in Neurodiagnostics and Sleep Science (CAAHEP-accredited); and our new M.S. in Respiratory Care (pending CoARC accreditation). Additionally, the Department has faculty affiliated with the Interdisciplinary Ph.D. Program in Biology (http://biology.uncc.edu/graduate-programs/phd-program) and the Ph.D. Program in Health Services Research (http://health.uncc.edu/doctor-philosophy-health-services-research).

Description of Work

Teaching – Faculty responsibilities and essential functions with respect to teaching may include but are not limited to: subject matter competence, course design, course presentation, and grading student work.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The Department of Kinesiology seeks a Clinical Assistant Professor for its Neurodiagnostics and Sleep Science (NDSS) Program. The faculty member will coordinate the NDSS program on the UNC Charlotte campus, working closely with the UNC Chapel Hill program Director; advise NDSS students; serve on the NDSS admissions committee; organize and conduct NDSS student orientations; oversee the NDSS operating budget; coordinate NDSS student internship placements and capstone projects; and teach courses offered within the NDSS program as well as courses within UNC Charlotte B.S. in Respiratory Therapy (BSRT) distance education program. Teaching responsibilities include, but are not limited to, pathophysiology in neurological, sleep and related disorders, evidence-based practice, healthcare leadership, and clinical procedures.

Minimum Experience/Education

UNC Charlotte gives primary consideration to the earned masters and/or terminal degree in the teaching discipline or a related discipline.

Preferred Education, Skills and Experience

At least a Master’s degree in a discipline related to sleep medicine, health science, education, or other health related field is required. Clinical experience in respiratory therapy, polysomnography, and/or neurodiagnostic technology is desirable.Teaching experience is preferred.

Necessary Licenses/Certifications

The RPSGT credential or eligibility to achieve this credential within 2 years of appointment is required. Additional professional certifications such as RRT, R.EEG T., R.EP T., CNIM, R.NCS T. are welcomed but not required.
