The Department of Educational Leadership has 20 full-time faculty members with specializations in educational research, higher education, instructional systems technology, school administration, and educational leadership. Description of Work

Thus, the Job Responsibilities and Essential Functions for Tenured and Tenure Track Faculty should be interpreted in the context of the related departmental and collegiate goals.
Teaching, Advising, Curriculum and Instructional Development – Faculty responsibilities and essential functions with respect to teaching may include but are not limited to: subject matter competence, course design, course presentation, advising and consultation, directing student research, curriculum and instructional development, and grading student work.
Scholarly Research, Creative, and Other Professional Activities – All tenured and tenure-track faculty are expected to participate in expanding the knowledge base of her/his academic field by conducting research or engaging in other creative activities as appropriate to the faculty member’s discipline. Faculty responsibilities and essential functions with respect to research may include but are not limited to: research/creative activity that generates new knowledge and/or synthesizes and/or integrates existing knowledge, publication, an on-going agenda for research, scholarly, and creative activity, and are expected to seek extramural support for their work.
Service to University, the Public, and the Profession – All tenured and tenure-track faculty are expected to engage in a program of service appropriate to their discipline. Faculty responsibilities and essential functions with respect to service may include but are not limited to: service to the administration and governance of the University, public service, and service to the profession.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The Department of Educational Leadership at The University of North Carolina at Charlotte (UNC Charlotte) invites applications for a full-time, tenure-eligible Assistant Professor of Educational Leadership (PK-12 Education) beginning August 15, 2018.

We seek a faculty colleague to join a high-achieving, dynamic, and collaborative Cato College of Education and Department faculty that is committed to the development of professionals through Equity, Engagement, and Excellence. The College strives to develop a deep understanding of and respect for diversity among students and colleagues; therefore, we encourage applications from professionals who can help us achieve this goal.

Required qualifications include: (1) an earned doctorate in Educational Leadership/Administration or closely related field from an accredited university, (2) a minimum of three years of successful leadership experience in PK-12 schools, (3) teaching experience in a school setting, and (4) potential for an active research agenda in an area associated with educational leadership.

Minimum Experience/Education

UNC Charlotte gives primary consideration to the earned doctorate or terminal degree in the teaching discipline or a related discipline.

Preferred Education, Skills and Experience

Preferred qualifications include: (1) experience teaching graduate-level courses, (2) a demonstrated commitment to diversity through professional experience and/or scholarship, (3) PK-12 organizational administrative experience, and (5) evidence of service to the profession.

Necessary Licenses/Certifications

principal license and a superintendent license, or eligible for a license.
