Primary Purpose of Department

The mission of the Office of Assessment and Accreditation is to supports the assessment, planning, accreditation and professional development needs of the University community and higher education communities around the state. This Office has four functional areas: 1) assist academic and administrative departments in planning, improving key processes and assessing performance; 2) provide support to decision makers for translating planning, outcomes, and survey analyses into strategic; 3) oversee and monitor the implementation, evaluation, and management of divisional effectiveness activities and institutional accreditation compliance; and 4) support assessment activities and promote the use of results for quality enhancement.

Primary Purpose of Position

The Director of Program Review and General Education Assessment has primary responsibility to facilitate and guide departments and units in a self-examination process of the effectiveness of its programs and services. Facilitating involves engaging academic and non-academic personnel in conversation and initiating collaborative, improvement efforts across the institution. The position will assist faculty and staff in implementing, analyzing, and documenting assessment processes and procedures in order to demonstrate the quality, viability, and productivity of programs and services. In addition, this position has the responsibility to prepare assessment studies, create reports and research briefs, and make presentations using data visualization techniques to evidence student impact, recognize best practices, and support improvement efforts.

Summary of Position Responsibilities

The Director of Program Review and General Education Assessment will assist departments and units in the organization, administration, and review of program quality, viability and productivity self-studies by internal and/or external reviewers including but not limited to undergraduate, graduate, and online programs, and academic support services. The Director will collaborate with the Associate Dean in the Office of Undergraduate Education to design and implement assessment procedures for the General Education curriculum, including the assessment of student learning outcomes and the evaluation of the general education program. Additionally the Director will interpret assessment findings, prepare reports, and make presentations. Data visualization techniques will be used to describe program review and general education assessment processes, progress, results, and improvements.

Minimum Education/Experience

A master’s degree from an accredited college or university is required. Also required is a minimum of three years of full-time experience at an institution of higher education facilitating program reviews and general education assessment.

•Engagement with operational and student learning outcomes assessment.

•Engagement in the design, evaluation, and assessment of program performance.

•Engagement in teaching and/or facilitating workshops about program review and assessment topics.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
•Knowledge of program review and general education assessment best practices.

•Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with faculty and staff.

•Ability to translate data into usable information for planning, assessment, and other purposes.

Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills and Experience

A doctorate is preferred.
