We provide highly reliable information technology infrastructure, tools and services to empower the University to achieve its academic, research, administrative and service goals.

Primary Purpose of Position

This position is responsible for managing and administering specialized applications in support of the University’s academic & administrative hardware environment, as well as, leading enhancement initiatives and/or projects. Researches emerging technologies to determine potential impacts and/or ability to integrate with existing applications architecture and/or standards. Assesses customer needs and develops technical solutions – specifically as associated with the integration of multiple applications and/or systems.

Summary of Position Responsibilities

This is specialized work in creating, implementing and maintaining technical application solutions or applying appropriate technology to projects of a broad organizational scope (e.g., large/complex department, college, university-wide, agency wide, or statewide). Projects solutions may be in the area of business, research and/or instructional applications. Employees research technological changes to determine the impact and integration with existing standards and architecture of applications. Assesses customer needs and develops technical solutions, especially as these solutions involve integration of multiple systems and applications. Typically, employees are specialists in a software, tool or standard and serves as a resource to other applications development staff in the organization.

Minimum Education/Experience

Graduation from a four year college or university with a major in computer science or information technology or related degree.

Previous experience of working with students or within an educational environment.

Previous experience within a customer service role.

Experience working with one or more of the following systems:
·Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager
·Citrix XenApp and XenDesktop
·JAMF Casper Suite

Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Graduation from a four year college or university with a major in computer science or information technology or related degree.

Job-related qualifications representing the knowledge, skills, and attributes an individual needs to possess in order to perform the job in a satisfactory manner:
-Advanced knowledge of Macintosh and Windows operating systems
-Advanced knowledge of supported standard application software (Office 2013 & Office 2016, Google Apps, Mozilla FireFox, Chrome, common Web plug-ins).
-Experience with desktop management and deployment tools (e.g. Apple Remote Desktop, JAMF Casper Suite, DeployStudio, Citrix, Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager, Windows Deployment Services, Microsoft Active Directory and Group Policy).
-Experience with virtual machines and knowledge of networking fundamentals.
-Experience administering and troubleshooting higher education applications including, but not limted to, Adobe Creative Cloud, AutoCad, Mathematica, SPSS, ArcGIS, etc.
-Experience with antivirus solutions such as Windows Defender and Sophos
-Desire and ability to work independently and as part of a team
-Strong desire to learn
-Strong organizational skills
-Positive customer service orientation and excellent interpersonal skills
-Technical writing experience
-Strong written and verbal communication skills
