Accredited by AACSB International, the Belk College of Business at UNC Charlotte offers outstanding business education programs in a variety of disciplines. The college has approximately 3,500 undergraduate students, 600 graduate students and 100 full-time faculty members.

Primary Purpose of Position

This position will be part of a Graduate Programs team that supports the following programs: PhD in Business Administration, Doctorate in Business Administration (DBA), Master of Business Administration (MBA), Master of Accountancy (MACC), Master of Science in Mathematical Finance, Master of Science in Economics, Master of Science in Real Estate, and Master of Science in Management. These programs serve a combination of working professionals and full-time students, with classes meeting both during the day and in the evenings. The Graduate Programs team supports graduate students from pre-admission through graduation, offering guidance on program fit, admission, enrollment, course selection, university policies and procedures, career planning and professional development.

Summary of Position Responsibilities

The Assistant Director of Graduate Student Services will provide pre-admission counseling and post-admission advising for prospective students in graduate programs in the Belk College of Business, with an emphasis on the Master of Accountancy program. Working in a high energy, collaborative environment, the Assistant Director of Graduate Student Services will cultivate employer and alumni relationships for the purposes of building job and internship opportunities for current students and alumni. These relationships will also provide connections from the business community back to the Belk College for individuals interested in learning about opportunities for graduate study and in selecting a graduate program best aligned with career goals. The Assistant Director of Graduate Student Services will help develop and support strategies for the recruitment and retention of high potential graduate students in the Belk College, which will consist of advising, scholarship award management, prospect engagement, and career services support. In addition, the Assistant Director of Graduate Student Services will support strategic initiatives for all graduate programs including enrollment, retention and diversity goals. Finally, the Assistant Director of Graduate Student Services will be responsible for assisting in the development of and reporting on metrics that measure success in the areas of prospective student recruitment and student retention.

Minimum Education/Experience

A Master’s degree in a Business discipline from an AACSB accredited school, in Counseling, or in Higher Education is required.
Two or more years of experience in high-volume business-community outreach and prospective student advising of prospective business graduate students preferred.
