Work Schedule

Primary work schedule matches the music performance schedule for the Spring Semester. Majority of performances occur 6pm – 10pm Monday- Friday. May have limited shifts on Saturday and Sunday. Other hours may be needed to match the performance schedule in the College of Arts + Architecture. Detailed schedule of events will be distributed during interview process.

Pay Rate $12.00 - $15.00 per hour
Minimum Experience/Education

3 – 5 years experience as a stage manager or production manager working with Theatre, Dance, or Music. Success training and managing run crew’s of different ability.

Departmental Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education:
  • Bachelors Degree in the performing arts.
  • The ability to read music, programming in QLab, and experience working with the ION lighting console.
  • Any experience playing a musical instrument in an orchestra or ensemble.
  • Practical experience in one or some combination of the following technical theatre positions:
    • Theatrical lighting technician and/or designer
    • Sound engineer and/or designer
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Looking for a stage manager to run and manage all music performances in the College of Arts + Architecture during the Spring 2018 Academic Semester.
  • Individual will be responsible to call/supervise all theatrical elements of each performance, including lights, sound, video, and stage hands.
  • The stage manager will be responsible for the supervision of student run crews, who have a wide range of experience and skill.
  • It is expected that the stage manager will practice industry standard norms along with following all UNCC policy and safety standards for the students workers, performers, and guests.
  • The stage manager will utilize the most professional communication techniques in working with conductors, directors, faculty, staff, and students in order to ensure the best possible performance.
Other Work/Responsibilities
  • Stage Manager will be expected to work directly with each ensemble director and front of house managers to ensure performance starts on time and as desired.
  • Following each performance, a performance report must be completed and sent to all identified personnel.
  • Along with running the actual performance, stage manager will oversee the pre & post performance needs; this may include setting up and striking concert shell, music stands & chairs, instruments, and flown elements, etc.
  • Other responsibilities could include running lights or sound during a performance, and other tasks as assigned. Individual must be comfortable working at heights including working in catwalks or a genie lift, safely carrying items weighing 40 lbs, using hand trucks, carts, and working on their feet for extended periods of time.
