Monday to Friday: Generally 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM depending on Library schedule

Pay Rate $15.00 per hour
Minimum Experience/Education

Applicants must have completed 24 credits (or two full semesters of work) toward a Master’s in Library and Information Science from an ALA-accredited program

Departmental Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education:
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Coursework or practical experience with digital archives, including principles of digital preservation
  • Coursework or practical experience with archival description standards
  • Coursework or practical experience with digital forensics and data analysis tools
  • Understanding of digital photography formats including JPG, TIF/TIFF, and RAW formats
  • Basic familiarity with one or more metadata standards, including MARC, MODS, Dublin Core, EAD, etc.
  • Familiarity with digital asset management systems and frameworks for libraries, such as CONTENTdm, Hydra, and Islandora
Duties and Responsibilities

Reporting to the University Archivist and Digital Archivist, the fellow will process born-digital materials from the University Archives. These materials may consist of official University records, records of student organizations, papers of alumni, and/or University photographs.

In addition to processing records, the fellow will also create documentation related to this processing, such as a processing workflow or manual.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Complete the transfer of files to local server using existing workflow
  • Establish workflow for processing born-digital University records, which may include extracting embedded metadata, reformatting files, and arrangement and description
  • Develop a plan for ingest into Islandora repository
  • Ensure standard-compliant metadata is applied
