Monday to Friday: Generally 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM depending on Library schedule

Pay Rate $15.00 per hour
Minimum Experience/Education

Applicants must have completed 24 credits (or two full semesters of work) toward a Master’s in Library and Information Science from an ALA-accredited program

Departmental Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education:
  • Knowledge of and/or experience with photography and/or digital imaging
  • Experience with graphic design programs
  • Experience conducting independent research
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent time management, analytical and creative problem solving skills
Duties and Responsibilities

The Technology & Digital Media fellowship provides an opportunity to collaborate with Research and Instructional Services’ faculty to understand the applications of technology in various disciplines. The Fellow will conduct research in the area of digital imaging and will identify and prioritize collections for conversion to 3D modeling. Possible scanning projects may include everyday objects, books, and/or textiles and artifacts from Special Collections and University Archives such as artists’ and pop-up books. The fellow will split their time between two units; initially working in Research and Instructional Services on Digital Humanities research and then embedded within Technology & Digital Strategies, gaining exposure to relevant technologies. The Fellow will become an expert in digital and 3D imaging processes and application through research and hands-on learning.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct literature review and environmental scan of digital production workflows and technology applications
  • Identify use cases for implementation in academic libraries and higher education
  • Research, report, and recommend platforms and tools
  • Assess and identify collection/s and design high-resolution 3D models
  • Present findings at internal and external meetings and/or conferences
  • Generate reports, as well as present findings and recommendations to internal and external audiences
  • Help to define and model collaborative relationship between Research and Instructional Services (liaison/subject librarians) and the Makerspace/Visualization Lab in supporting digital media projects
Other Work/Responsibilities

Attend professional development workshops as scheduled throughout the program
