Description of Work

Thus, the Job Responsibilities and Essential Functions for Non-Tenure Track Faculty should be interpreted in the context of the related departmental and collegiate teaching goals.

Teaching – Faculty responsibilities and essential functions with respect to teaching may include but are not limited to: subject matter competence, course design, course presentation, and grading student work.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Required Qualifications: MFA; documented college-level teaching experience in visual art Foundations with an emphasis on drawing; an understanding of the interdisciplinary nature of drawing as both a traditional and technological-based medium. Ability to teach art major courses including Drawing I, Figure Drawing I, Two-Dimensional Design, Conceptual Practices, and Senior Seminar.

Minimum Experience/Education

UNC Charlotte gives primary consideration to the earned masters and/or terminal degree in the teaching discipline or a related discipline.

Preferred Education, Skills and Experience

Desired Qualifications: Ability to teach Drawing II, Figure Drawing II, Figure and Anatomy, Illustration, and Three-Dimensional Design for art majors, as well as Liberal Studies (Art & Society) for non-majors. Ability to initiate ideas and work with other department faculty to evaluate and maintain a cohesive Foundations curriculum that supports and responds to departmental goals. While Lecturers are not evaluated on professional practice, a record of studio accomplishment is highly valued.
