Minimum Experience/Education

The Postdoctoral appointee must have recently (within the last eight years) been awarded a Ph.D. or equivalent doctorate (e.g., Sc.D., M.D.)

Departmental Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education:

•Completion of PhD degree from an APA-accredited Counseling or Clinical Psychology program prior to fellowship start date.
•Completion of an APA-accredited predoctoral internship.
•Strong clinical skills in brief clinical work, training and supervision, group psychotherapy, and outreach and education.
•Recent experience providing clinical supervision to graduate students.
•Demonstrated competency and experience working clinically with multicultural diversity.
•Clinical experience with a college student/young adult population is required. Clinical experience in a college or university counseling center is preferred.

Duties and Responsibilities

•Provide clinical supervision and training to graduate students in the Clinical Health Psychology program at UNC Charlotte.
•Conduct individual and group counseling and psychotherapy with students who seek assistance with a broad range of personal problems and whose problems are negatively impacting their academic performance.
•Respond to psychological emergencies or crisis situations requiring immediate intervention (e.g., suicidal behavior, student death or injury); provide on-call services during and after regular office hours
•Provide educational programs and training seminars to students, faculty, and staff to enhance the effectiveness of student academic work, interpersonal relationships, and personal growth and the effectiveness of faculty and staff role in the academic environment.
•Consult with faculty and professional staff who seek assistance dealing with students having behavioral or emotional problems.
•Participate actively in activities that enhance the mission of the Counseling Center as a practicum and intern training site, including supervision of practicum students in counseling or psychology and facilitation of training seminars.
•Assist with administration of beginning practicum training program.
•Provide clinical individual and group supervision to beginning practicum students
