Primary Purpose of Position

The Assistant Director of Donor Relations for Engagement is responsible for managing, executing, and creating recognition and engagement programs for the Office of Donor Relations. Primary functions of donor recognition include but are not limited to, implementing a plan for giving societies and maintaining recognition such as welcome letters, tiles and plaques; creating and executing an annual donor nomination plan, creating and maintaining a database on existing named spaces on campus; and the management of new named spaces through drafting and designing plaques and working with Facilities to place plaques and signage;. Primary functions of donor engagement include but are not limited to, managing the Chancellor’s Box and foundation seats for football; handling the distribution of basketball seats; managing the process for Chancellor donor lunches, overseeing event lists and follow-up, planning donor visits, and writing individualized donor engagement plans for top donors. This position will collaborate across departments to provide input on donor stories and donor events, provide consultation on recognition and engagement opportunities, and create and improve tools to be used across campus. Assistant Director of Donor Relations for Engagement will develop and recommend new approaches to donor recognition and engagement including through videos, social media, and a variety of other channels, based on trends, to improve the University’s overall recognition and engagement efforts. This position will also assist with the stewardship of gifts including gift documentation, executing reporting and drafting acknowledgment letters.

Minimum Education/Experience

Graduation from a four year college or university and two years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Essential Job Duties

• Oversee and execute donor engagement opportunities including football, basketball, Chancellor Donor lunches, and donor visits.
• Manage the Chancellor’s Box for football and the University’s giving societies.
• Administer the process of new named spaces on campus and create, and maintain, a database of existing named spaces on campus.
• Implement and execute an annual donor nomination strategy for University, local, regional, and national awards.
• Draft and edit a variety of materials including donor recognitions, nominations, individualized, stewardship plans, acknowledgement letters, and gift agreements.

Other Work Responsibilities

• Develop and recommend new approaches to donor recognition and engagement based on trends.
• Responsible for ensuring thoughtful donor event follow up.
• Provides guidance on CASE Standards, University policies, and Advancement operational guidelines.
• Assist with the stewardship of gifts, including gift documentation, executing reporting, and drafting acknowledgement letters.

Departmental Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education

• Bachelor’s Degree.
• Two years of program experience in Donor Relations or Stewardship.
• Two years of writing and editing experience.
• Prior professional experience in donor recognition and/or donor engagement.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Has managed multiple projects independently and simultaneously.
• Able to meet deadlines and develop appropriate priorities.
• Experience writing donor pieces including acknowledgement letters, donor recognition plaques, nominations, and/or stewardship plans.
• Strong writing sample and cover letter.
• Demonstration of motivation and creativity.
